Torch Street Ride, East of I-35 Route - March 22, 2008

On Saturday, March 22, TORCH held its first ever street bike ride. The group met at Waterloo Ice House on Parmer Lane for breakfast tacos before the ride. Thirteen people attended the ride and showed up on everything from Cruisers, to Touring bikes, to Sport bikes. Clayton laid out an awesome ~170 mile route that took the group through Brushy Creek, Round Rock, Hutto, Copeland, Thorndale, Bartlett, Granger, Taylor and Georgetown. We experienced some incredible views of the surrounding area to include farms, ranches, lakes, and small town roads. We stopped at Lake Granger for photos and then went on to Taylor where we had a great lunch and fellowship at Louie Mueller BBQ. After lunch the group resumed the ride and headed back to town. The group stopped for breaks and made sure that no one was left behind or lost. All in all it was a great success for our first ride. No mishaps, no mechanical failures and no close calls. I’d like to encourage everyone who has a street bike to make plans to attend our next street ride. And tell your friends about the rides as everyone is welcome. Thanks to everyone who made this ride a success. This is just the beginning of the on-road TORCH Ministry, and one that I know will grow quickly!
