On Saturday, June 23, TORCH had the pleasure of riding CTOR (Central Texas Off-Roaders) in Salado. After all of the bad weather we had been receiving, we were blessed with perfect weather and great riding conditions. Upon our arrival, Bennie the land owner greeted us with a smile, took the time to explain the lay of the land and even gave us a few hints on what areas to ride based on our abilities. Thanks for being such a great host Bennie!
We were blessed to have 20 plus riders turnout, including several new riders, some who made the trek all the way from the San Antonio area. It was great to see new riders and get to know you a little bit better. We hope to see y'all on future rides.
This was the first visit to CTOR for many of us and I'd have to say that it is everything we had heard about and more. Trails ranged from very easy and flat with a nice dirt base; to really fun, muddy sections; to very technical sections with lots of altitude changes and rocks. Most any kind of terrain one could hope for. There were also some fantastic views to be had from atop the several hills. I believe we were able to ride about 50% of the more than 40 miles of trails, which means we left a lot to explore on future rides.
For those of you who missed this ride, please plan to join us when we return to CTOR in August, as it is a riding experience that you won't want to miss. Thanks to everyone who came out and made this a successful ride. We look forward to seeing you again.
